PAIS Lab seminar: Existing methods of abstracting process models // Antonina Begicheva

At the session of our seminar,  Antonina Begicheva (Research assistant of the PAIS Lab) delivered a report "Existing methods of abstracting process models".

Abstract:
Working with business processes, we usually use detailed event logs which contain a full description of the sequence of actions which occur in the system. Since majority of information systems generate event logs automatically, receiving a detailed report is not difficult. However, detailed models are often too cumbersome and require exceptional focus, which takes a lot of time. Experts prefer to deal with more abstract models, since such models are easier to read and understand, and thus are easier for the analysis. Manually created process models are typically not very large, they omit purely technical details. The report will review the existing methods of abstracting models.
