I am going to report on the discovery of Reset workflow nets (RWF-nets) within Process Mining techniques. Taking RWF-net as a representation bias (instead of a classical Petri net) gives us an opportunity to simplify the target process model. In this work the state-based region algorithm was chosen as an algorithm for the process discovery. I’ll show and formally prove that a cancelation of parallel branches reflected in the event log leads to the construction of overcomplicated labeled Petri net during operation of the original state-based region algorithm. Also I’ll give an extension of the original state-based region algorithm to recognize cancellation regions and represent them by reset arcs of the target RFW-net. It will be shown that the target RWF-net in contrast with original labeled Petri net has more clear structure; the correctness of the proposed algorithm extension will be proven.
